The variety has folk origins from the village of Solivar (Slovakia) and was widely known before 1880. It is found under the synonyms Solnohradské ušlechtilé, Borka, and Šovari. The fruits are for universal use, suitable for fresh consumption, drying, and juice production.

The tree grows vigorously at a young age, later growth slows down, forming a medium-sized spreading crown. The fruits of medium to large size have yellow skin with a reddish striped blush; the flesh is very juicy, sweet, with slight acidity and a weak aroma.

The variety is characterized by high frost resistance and is suitable for cultivation in high-altitude conditions. The tree is undemanding regarding soil quality, and in mature age, as growth slows down, it requires rejuvenation pruning.
