The Tukker variety, also known as Tukkerappel, belongs to the group of heirloom varieties and was discovered during the search for and restoration of rare fruit crops. At present, the plant is primarily of interest to collectors, as full agronomic characteristics of the variety have not been recorded in open publications.

During variety trials, the fruits of the variety were noted as being less attractive in color compared to modern commercial varieties, which is why they do not always meet the top grade of marketability.
