The variety is an old local landrace, not a product of directed breeding. At present, it has limited commercial significance and is considered primarily as an object for the conservation of Portugal's genetic diversity.

During studies, the variety showed susceptibility to scab on the leaves, while the fruits remained resistant to the disease. The agronomic characteristics of the plant, such as height or exact ripening times, are not recorded in the publications.

The use of the variety is related to the study of its chemical composition, including the content of sugars, organic acids, and phenolic compounds. The variety is viewed as a resource for the development of organic farming and the diversification of fruit growing.
