The variety originates from the Natisone valleys in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region and is genetically identical to a number of other local names, such as Bolzanin, Carlesso or Rosse di Croazia. The fruits ripen early, starting from the second ten-day period of July.

The appearance of the fruits is characterized by wide variability in coloration, including varying degrees of intensity of red blush and striping. Fruit size can be small. The variety is characterized by good productivity and is traditionally used for fresh consumption.
