The apple variety «Alfa 68» (sometimes referred to as Alpha 68) is a tetraploid (4x) variety bred in Sweden as part of breeding programs in Alnarp and Balsgård. Genetically, the variety originates from a cross of Belle de Boskoop and Filippa.
The plant is classified as having a mid-season maturity. Under test conditions, the variety exhibited resistance to apple scab (Venturia inaequalis).
The variety is primarily used in breeding programs as a tetraploid parent, as well as in genetic research, including analysis of S-alleles, RAPD markers, and phylogenetic relationships. There is no data on its commercial use as a table cultivar.
