The tree or shrub reaches a height of 4–5 meters and possesses a broadly spreading, irregular crown shape. Leaves are ovate or elliptical; upon emergence, they are brownish-red and glossy, eventually turning deep green. On vegetative shoots, leaves are often three-lobed or tripartite.
Flowers 3–4 cm in diameter are situated on long, slender pedicels, featuring carmine buds and pink petals. Fruits are small, about 3 cm in diameter, conical in shape, yellow with a red blush, and persist on long fruit stalks. The variety possesses high winter hardiness.
