The mature tree has a broadly rounded, dome-shaped, or spreading crown. The foliage is purple upon unfolding, turns dark green with purple veins in summer, and colors to orange-red tones in autumn.
Flowering is abundant, occurring from May to early June. The flowers are large, 4–5 cm in diameter, simple in structure, and deep pink-purple or fuchsia in color.
The fruits are small, about 2–3 cm in diameter, dark purple or dark red with a waxy bloom. They have a sweet-and-sour taste and ripen in September, remaining on the branches for a long time.
The variety possesses high winter hardiness down to -35 °C and resistance to scab, while being susceptible to powdery mildew. The tree is light-loving, tolerates urban conditions well, and requires fertile, drained soils.
