The rootstock was developed through the collaboration of the East Malling Research Station and the John Innes Institute. The genetic origin of the subject is linked to the use of Northern Spy and Winter Majestin varieties as parent forms.
The main characteristic of MM 112 is high resistance to woolly apple aphid (Eriosoma lanigerum) infestation. As an element of the MM rootstock series, it is used in horticulture to regulate vigor and adapt grafted fruit trees to external conditions.
