MM 111 is a semi-dwarf rootstock occupying an intermediate position between semi-vigorous and vigorous types. Trees on this rootstock reach approximately 80–85% of the size of trees on seedling rootstocks. It is characterized by high anchorage, allowing trees to do without additional supports.
The rootstock is distinguished by its resistance to crown rot and successfully adapts to heavy clay and calcareous soils with a pH above 7. Grafted varieties enter the fruiting stage in the 4th–5th year after planting. The rootstock is intended exclusively for vegetative propagation and use as a base for cultivated apple varieties.
