The variety has a columnar growth habit with genetically determined weak development of side branches, making it suitable for small plots and container cultivation. Parent forms are the hybrid Cox's Orange Pippin × Court Pendu Plat and the variety Wijcik Spur McIntosh.
Small to medium-sized fruits have a round, flattened shape with slight ribbing. The ground color is yellow with a dark burgundy blush on the sun-exposed side. The flesh is white, fine-grained, and crisp. The variety belongs to late ripening groups; flavor qualities become milder and sweeter after storage.
It is important to distinguish this variety from the ornamental apple tree Malus 'Red Obelisk', which is a separate variety with fruits not intended for human consumption.
