The variety has a dome-shaped, later slightly drooping, asymmetrical crown. Trees in the period of full productivity are characterized by weak vigor; spindle bush or espalier forms are recommended for them. The variety enters bearing early; productivity is regular and high. There is a color mutation of the variety known as Oldenburgovo červené.
Fruits are medium-sized, have a spherical or blunt-conical shape. The skin is greasy, semi-glossy, golden-yellow in color with a red speckled blush and stripes. The flesh is medium-grained, whitish-yellow in color. Under unfavorable drought conditions, trees can be affected by scab and powdery mildew.
The variety is an active participant in breeding programs; varieties such as Alkmene, Clivia, and Ervin Baur have been developed on its basis. It is also used as a pollinator for other apple trees. The variety is not a synonym for Duchess of Oldenburg (Charlamovski).
