The rootstock belongs to the semi-dwarfing group; in terms of vigor, it is comparable to or exceeds M.26. Trees grafted onto this rootstock demonstrate good survival, form few root suckers, and are not prone to developing burr knots on the trunk, but they require mandatory support.
The plant possesses high resistance to fire blight and root rots, and is characterized by good winter hardiness. The yield and fruiting efficiency of trees on the V.1 rootstock are generally equal to or exceed those of the M.26 rootstock.
