Wabiskaw is a fast-growing tree ranging from 2 to 6 meters in height with upright branches. Young foliage has a dark red hue, which changes to bronze-green in summer and turns red again in autumn.
At the beginning of the season, the tree is covered with semi-double flowers approximately 4 cm in diameter, which have a dark pink or purple color. The fruits, about 3 cm in size, have an angular shape and a dark burgundy color, remaining on the branches for a long time.
The variety is used primarily for decorative purposes and as a pollinator for other apple trees. The fruits can be processed into purée or juices. Studies note a relatively low degree of infection with fire blight under natural conditions.
