The V.3 rootstock was developed as a result of a breeding program involving the Robin and Malling 9 varieties. It provides growth restriction, allowing trees to reach a height of approximately 1.8 m depending on conditions and the scion variety.
The plant possesses cold hardiness and resistance to fire blight. Due to the limited volume of the root system, trees on this rootstock require mandatory support and regular watering, especially during dry periods.
Although the rootstock is capable of bearing small red fruits, it is not intended for crop production and is used exclusively in professional and amateur gardening to create compact, high-yielding orchards.
