Aloreña is an autochthonous variety grown in the Guadalhorce Valley. The fruits have a characteristic ovoid shape, which is why they are often compared to small apples. One of the key features of the variety is the so-called 'floating' pit, which separates easily from the fruit pulp.

Trees of this variety are characterized by low productivity. Agronomic characteristics of the plant are limited in open sources, however, the variety has undergone scientific research for resistance to pathogens, in particular to Phytophthora.

The variety is intended exclusively for table use. Its uniqueness lies in the possibility of pickling in a natural way using only water and salt without the use of alkali. Depending on the fermentation process, the products are divided into three types: fresh green, traditional, and cured.
