The variety is an ancient local genotype identified during research on the identification and conservation of olive genetic diversity in Galicia (Spain). The variety is not the result of targeted breeding.

Morphologically, the leaves of the variety belong to the second group along with Cobrancosa and Mansa Gallega. They are characterized by a lower cuticle and leaf blade thickness, reduced trichome density, thicker vascular bundle sheaths, and large intercellular spaces in the parenchyma. The fruits are distinguished by the specific shape of the drupe apex.

The variety is considered a potential resource for olive oil production, however, agronomic characteristics, data on yield, resistance to diseases, and biochemical properties of the produce are currently unavailable in accessible publications.
