The variety is a traditional olive cultivar found in Catalonia. Identification and conservation efforts are being conducted by the Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA).

The variety belongs to a later maturity group. At the time of harvest, the fruits turn black, with a tendency for natural shedding upon over-ripening. The use of the variety is oriented toward olive oil production.

At present, the variety is considered part of the cultural heritage. Detailed morphological characteristics of the plant are not presented in general open scientific publications.
