The variety belongs to the local biodiversity of Italy and is characterized by a basal type of shoot growth, which allows for the formation of trees with a low trunk. The fruits and oil of the variety are most often used in blends with other types of olives.

The plant has low susceptibility to leaf spot, known as olive peacock spot. The variety should be distinguished from the common Leccino variety, with which it is often confused due to the similarity of the names.
