The Ortice tree has medium vigor and an upright crown type. The variety is adapted to cultivation on terraced hillsides, preferring stony, well-drained soils and a dry climate.

Fruits are harvested at various stages of maturity, from the beginning of coloration to full ripeness. The resulting oil is distinguished by a balanced combination of bitterness and pungency, as well as an aroma with hints of mown grass, medicinal herbs, tomato foliage, and fresh almond.
