Sanginara, also known as Oliva di San Gennaro, is a local variety that has adapted over centuries to the conditions of the Campania region and the Cilento National Park. The tree is characterized as vigorous, with mid-season fruit ripening.
The variety is used primarily for olive oil production. Studies of metabolite composition using NMR spectroscopy confirm that the oil from this variety has a specific phytochemical profile characteristic of this micro-zone.
