The variety originates from the Pišece, Sromlje, and Bizeljsko hills areas. It is assumed that this ecotype developed from Hungarian apricot varieties. The plant is characterized by late shoot development and flowering, as well as stable annual fruiting. Various genetic ecotypes may be hidden under the variety name.

The fruits are suitable for fresh consumption, drying, making jams, and ice cream production. The variety is susceptible to Plum pox virus and phytoplasma, which is why research is being conducted to find resistant specimens. Cultivation success largely depends on the choice of a suitable rootstock.
