The variety ripens three weeks earlier than most traditional varieties. The fruits are characterized by their large size, dark, almost black skin color, and sugary flesh taste. The tree has a pronounced decorative crown shape.

In modern research, the variety is considered primarily in the context of genetic studies, including the investigation of S-locus self-incompatibility alleles. At present, it is classified as a historical or heirloom variety, rarely found in commercial horticulture.
