Variety description

10 August 2026

The tree is vigorous, reaches a height of 4 to 6 meters, and forms a broadly pyramidal or broad-bushy crown. The variety is medium to medium-late, with fruit ripening occurring from mid-June to early August.

The fruits are large or very large, heart-shaped. The primary skin color is bright yellow, with a bright red blush appearing upon full ripening. The flesh is light yellow, firm (cartilaginous), moderately juicy, with a sweet and spicy taste. The small stone is difficult to separate from the flesh.

The variety is winter-hardy, tolerating temperatures down to -20°C, although young plants are sensitive to late spring frosts. The variety is self-incompatible and requires pollinator trees, for which Hedelfinger Riesenkirsche, Regina, Schneiders späte Knorpelkirsche, Große Schwarze Knorpelkirsche, and Kassins Frühe are suitable.

The sweet cherry is for universal table use, suitable for fresh consumption and various types of processing, including the preparation of compotes and jams. Among the synonyms for the variety are the names Altenburger Melonenkirsche, Querfurter Königskirsche, Napoleon, Royal Ann, and Lauemanns Kirsche.
