The variety has an obscure origin and is found in rare specimens in the central part of the Val di Susa valley in Piedmont. The tree is characterized by a spreading growth habit and medium-low vigor.
The primary value lies in its early maturity, which coincides with or precedes that of some sweet cherry varieties. The fruits of the variety have good keeping quality.
