The Griotte du Nord tree has a bush-like form with thin shoots and medium vigor. Fruits are medium to large in size, about 21 mm in diameter and weighing up to 5.3 g, with a round or slightly oval shape. The skin is firm with a matte finish, color varies from bright red to nearly black at full maturity. The flesh is dark red, very juicy and soft.

The variety belongs to late maturity groups and is characterized by high yield. Fruiting is concentrated primarily on annual shoots. The variety is self-fertile. The plant has resistance to wind and air pollution, but is sensitive to heat and drought, and is also susceptible to Monilia infection.

The fruits are distinguished by a high sugar content and pronounced acidity, due to which the variety is not recommended for fresh consumption. The primary use is confectionery production, making preserves, jams, canned goods, as well as the production of liqueurs and brandy.
