Marascone represents an autochthonous cherry common in the provinces of Central and Northern Italy. Fruits of this type are traditionally considered industrial due to their intense flavor and are used for making preserves, jams, syrups, and liqueurs.
The fruits have a bright red color and medium size. Plants of this type are often propagated by root suckers, which allows them to be maintained without grafting. The variety ripens in late June or early July; however, industrial yield and juice quality are rated as insufficiently high.
1 jurisdiction
Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
