Marasca del Saluzzese is a local genetic variety that emerged as a result of folk selection in the Piedmont region. It is a historical sour cherry variety classified as autochthonous.
Fruits of the variety are characterized by a very small size. In terms of maturity, this variety is classified as very late. The variety belongs to the marasca-type cherry group, which is traditionally used for liqueur production or canning.
