Visciola di Ariano is a local population of cherry widespread in the Ariano area. Unlike modern breeding varieties, this variety does not have detailed agronomic descriptions, such as yield indicators, tree height, or disease resistance.
The fruits of this type are distinguished by a pronounced sour taste and intense juice color, due to which they are traditionally used in Italian cooking and winemaking for creating specific beverages.
