The Ialomita variety is an achievement of Romanian breeding, developed with the participation of horticultural research institutes. The process of its creation involved methods of interspecific hybridization using forms of Prunus domestica and Prunus insititia.
This variety is known in scientific literature primarily as a carrier of genetic resistance to Plum Pox Virus. Fruits of the variety have undergone chemical composition and sensory characteristic studies, confirming their suitability for various types of use.
