The columnar form is a tree 1.5–2.5 meters tall with a narrow pyramidal crown and poorly developed lateral branches. It is a mid-late ripening variety, entering into fruiting 1–2 years after planting, with a yield of up to 10–12 kg per tree. Fruits weighing 40–55 g have a pinkish-purple or purple color and golden, juicy flesh with a honey flavor. The plant is winter hardy and resistant to a number of fungal diseases.
The Imperial Gage variety belongs to the Gage group and is distinguished by a traditional rounded crown from 2.5 to 4 meters tall. Fruits of this type are colored yellow-green and possess a pronounced flavor characteristic of Gages. This form is not columnar and is often identified in pomological literature with the variety Denniston's Superb.
