IMPERIAL EPINEUSE is a vigorous tree 5–6 meters in height. Young plants have a narrow pyramidal crown, which becomes spreading with age. The variety belongs to the mid-late maturity group. Fruits weighing 30–50 g are distinguished by juiciness, soft flesh, and a sweet taste.

The plant possesses winter hardiness down to -30°C…-34°C, however, it is sensitive to Monilinia fruit rot. The variety is actively used in the industrial production of dried fruits and in breeding to develop new varieties, such as Valor, Verity and Penta.

In horticulture, there also exists a columnar variety Imperial, which is a compact tree 1.5–2.5 meters in height with a narrow crown up to 1 meter in diameter. This is an early-bearing, self-infertile variety, ripening in August, with large fruits weighing 45–55 g of pink-purple color.
