The São João cultivar is a traditional fruit crop characteristic of the Madeira region. It has been identified and included in the National Catalogue of Fruit Varieties of Portugal as part of a project to conserve local biodiversity.
The cultivar is intended for fruit production. Detailed morphological characteristics, such as exact maturity timing or disease resistance, are currently not presented in public reference materials.
