The Sprite variety is a hybrid of cherry plum (Prunus cerasifera) and Japanese plum (Prunus salicina). Trees are characterized by high productivity and early entry into fruiting with an early flowering period.
The fruits are of medium size and have amber flesh. The variety is self-fertile, however, cross-pollination with other cherry plum or Japanese plum varieties increases yield. The fruit ripening period occurs in August.
