Vroege Tolse is a well-known traditional Dutch plum variety. The fruits of this variety are widely used for preparing traditional baked goods, including Dutch and Limburg pies, and are also used as an additive in the production of specialized types of beer, such as lambics.
In horticulture, the variety is mentioned as suitable for planting in orchards. In professional growing recommendations for other varieties, such as Valor, Vroege Tolse is sometimes indicated as a potential pollinator. The fruit harvest generally takes place in July.
