Variety description

The plant has a broad-rounded, dense habit and reaches a height of 2–2.5 m. The leaves are large, leathery, and shiny. In spring, the new growth stands out with a copper-red or bronze hue, contrasting with the old foliage.

Flowering occurs in April–May with creamy-white flowers in upright racemes 10–15 cm long. The fruits are drupes that change color from red to dark purple or black upon ripening.

The shrub is resistant to pruning and heavy trimming; frost resistance is down to -20°C...-25°C (USDA zones 5b-7a). All parts of the plant contain toxic substances.
