The plant has a rounded, bushy shape and reaches a height of 60–100 cm. The leaves are leathery, dark green in color, and ovate or lanceolate in shape. During the flowering period, which occurs in May–June, the shrub produces white raceme inflorescences with a strong aroma. By August, round black-purple fruits ripen.

The variety possesses winter hardiness, drought tolerance, and tolerates pruning well, which allows it to be used for creating borders, hedges, as well as for container cultivation. Parts of the plant contain cyanogenic glycosides and are toxic if ingested.
