The plant has a narrow, columnar shape and reaches a height of 2.5–4 meters with a width of 0.8–1 meter. The leaves are leathery, narrow-ovoid, dark green in color, and maintain their ornamental appearance all year round. In April-May, the shrub blooms with white fragrant racemose inflorescences, followed by the formation of black fruits.

The variety is intended for creating hedges that require minimal pruning, as well as for solitary plantings. The plant is winter hardy down to -23 °C…-25 °C and is resistant to diseases. It tolerates various types of pruning well, including rejuvenating pruning.

It prefers moist, fertile, well-drained soils with a slightly acidic or neutral reaction. It grows poorly in heavy clay soils and with an excess of lime. It can develop in the sun, in partial shade, and in shaded conditions. All parts of the plant contain toxic substances.
