The variety is also known by the names Monstrueuse de Doué or Orchard Queen. It is related to the varieties Wassenberger, Marketonzen and Roter Ellerstädter, which may be mutants of the same type that emerged as a result of local selection during propagation by seeds.
Trees reach significant sizes; in amateur gardening, specimens with a height of about 3.5 m are found. Fruits are characterized by the fact that the stone separates well from the white flesh.
In modern intensive commercial orchards, the variety is rare and is mainly represented in genetic resource collections as a cultural and historical heritage.
