The GF 305 rootstock is used for growing peaches and nectarines, and also demonstrates compatibility with some plum varieties. For scientific purposes, it serves as a standard indicator plant for testing for the presence of plum pox virus, necrotic ringspot virus, and other stone fruit diseases.
The plant is characterized by vigorous growth and good compatibility with scions. It possesses resistance to calcareous soils exceeding that of many other peach seedlings and does not produce root suckers.
