The Fercino rootstock is characterized by high growth vigor, causing a significant increase in the trunk diameter of cultivars grafted onto it. When used as a rootstock for plums, it demonstrates compatibility with most European and Japanese-Chinese breeding varieties.
The plant possesses resistance to chlorosis caused by iron deficiency and tolerates waterlogged soil well. Like other cherry plum-based rootstocks, it can produce root suckers.
