The designation refers to a wild form of sweet cherry grown from seed. The tree is characterized by vigorous growth and a well-developed root system capable of penetrating deep into the soil.

The plant is used exclusively as a rootstock for grafting cultivated sweet cherry and sour cherry varieties. It is considered long-lived, well-adapted to various soil types in continental conditions, and possesses satisfactory compatibility with scions.
