The rootstock reduces the vigor of grafted trees by 40–50% compared to seedling rootstocks. It also promotes earlier entry of the tree into the fruiting period.
An important characteristic of the rootstock is that the reduction in tree size does not usually lead to a reduction in fruit size. The plant has an intermediate tendency for root sucker formation.
