The VSL 2 rootstock provides low growth vigor to trees, which allows them to be shorter than when using seed rootstocks or Mahaleb cherry. Plants on this rootstock enter fruit bearing early and are characterized by high productivity.
It possesses high drought tolerance, heat resistance, and is adapted to heavy, dense soils. The root system is characterized by resistance to Verticillium wilt, bacteriosis, and nematodes, although the rootstock itself is prone to root sucker formation.
