The variety is a local Italian cultivar common in the Casentino area and is considered a product of folk selection. The fruits ripen in late August — early September and are ready for consumption a few days after harvest.
The fruits are characterized as sweet, aromatic, and juicy. The shelf life without refrigeration is 3–4 weeks, and several months under refrigerated conditions. The variety is included in regional biodiversity registers as a genetic resource.
