Canalova trees are characterized by vigorous growth and form wide, spherical crowns. The variety is considered undemanding regarding growing conditions, though it prefers sufficiently moist soils. There is information regarding possible susceptibility to scab.
The medium-sized fruits have a variable elongated shape. The skin of the fruit is green, sometimes with the manifestation of russeting, without a pronounced blush. The flesh is of medium-firm consistency, juicy, with an excellent semi-sweet taste complemented by spicy notes.
This variety belongs to the category of historical varieties and, under modern conditions, is of interest primarily to collectors. It is included in the lists of regional varieties, in particular in the Czech Republic.
