The variety was obtained in Belgium around 1800 and named after the German pomologist A. Diel. Currently, the plant is found more often in home gardens than in commercial production.
The plant is demanding of climatic conditions and requires a warm climate to form high-quality fruits. The variety is characterized by high antioxidant activity of the fruits.
