The variety Grännapäron is an old local Swedish pear variety. The fruits are characterized by a medium to large size and an elongated shape; the peduncle is often set at an angle. The fruit skin is greenish-yellow, featuring a brick-red or reddish-brown blush, sometimes with patches of russeting.
The fruit flesh is yellowish-white, firm, and slightly granular, with a sweet taste. The variety is late-ripening: harvesting is carried out in October–November, and consumer maturity is reached in November–December. The fruits are suitable for fresh consumption and for canning. In Sweden, it is recommended for cultivation zones I–III.
