The fruits are ovate, covered with gray-brown russeting, and have tender juicy flesh with a sweet or sweet-sour taste.
The ancient variety Graue Herbstbutterbirne, known since the 17th century, is distinguished by fruits ranging from ovate to spherical in shape, entirely covered with cinnamon-colored russeting.
