During studies conducted from 2012 to 2015 in the Märkischer Kreis district, it was established that the variety known as Grieschenbirne is genetically identical to the Goldhähnchen variety. At present, researchers have not been able to reliably establish which of these names is the original or determine the location of the parent trees.

Detailed morphological and agronomic characteristics of the variety are not provided in open reports. The variety is of interest for the preservation of regional biodiversity within the framework of programs to support meadow orchards and is considered as a subject for further study.
