Variety description

10 August 2026

The name of the variety comes from the shape of the fruit, resembling the segmented headgear of Catholic priests. These varieties are traditional for the Lazio and Bologna regions and belong to the category of heirloom fruits.

From a genetic point of view, Prete is a diploid variety. Detailed agronomic characteristics, such as plant height, maturity dates, or yield indicators, are absent in open scientific publications, as the variety is not a product of industrial breeding.
